Hydrogen Engineering: Electrolysers

This is a 10-hour online course.

In this course you will learn about how electrolysers work, from electrochemical fundamentals to the role of renewable energy in hydrogen production. You’ll explore different electrolyser types, their efficiencies, and their suitability for various applications. The course examines the engineering requirements for electrolyser systems, including component design, operational parameters, and maintenance, to understand how to manage hydrogen’s unique properties safely and comply with industry best practices.

Apply your skills to real-world hydrogen projects
Discover how electrolysers are integrated into hydrogen supply chains, from small-scale applications to large industrial projects. Through real-world examples, you’ll see how this technology is powering the transition to cleaner energy.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recall the principles of electrolysis operation.
- Identify and compare the main features of electrolyser technologies.
- Describe key aspects of safety around electrolyser design, construction, commissioning and maintenance.
- Summarise key requirements for successful electrolyser design, construction, commissioning and maintenance

Hydrogen in the Built Environment
